Emma McGrath

Emma McGrath is a 15 year old songwriter and performer from Hertfordshire. She picked up the guitar properly for the first time at the age of 10 and played her first open mic at 13. Writing a combination of hard hitting acoustic music carried by an incredibly powerful voice, at only 15 Emma has already achieved a lot. She released her first EP, ‘The Judgement’ in November 2014, received BBC Radio 2 play on Dermot O’Leary’s show, and had one of her tracks chosen as BBC Introducing ‘Track of the Week’ on BBC 3 Counties. She has also played the prestigious 100 Club on Oxford Street. Currently studying for her GCSEs as well as her Grade 8 guitar exam, Emma is also finding the time to work on her new EP.

Emma said about winning the Lynsey de Paul Pize:

“I feel very grateful to have won such a fantastic prize and excited to know that the money will enable me to continue working on my next EP! Recording has already begun and it’s good to know that I will have the funds to finish it and promote it properly. I am particularly keen to access the mentorship and look forward to meeting new people and learning lots of new things.”
