Mira Calix
Mira Calix is an award winning artist, composer and performer, who integrates music, sound, visual media and technology to create multi-disciplinary installations and performance works. She will work on the creation of a new multi-disciplinary collaborative artwork with her hosts in Nanjing at the University of the Arts.
“I’m thrilled to have been selected for this PRS for Music Foundation and British Council Residency in China. Visiting China has been on my bucket list since I was about 8, when my dad used to visit regularly for business – and return with what felt like the most enchanting music in the world! I’ve been infatuated with China ever since, and although I’ve had installation work travel there – this will be a personal debut! I’m so looking forward to exploring the rich cultural heritage of my host city as well as immersing myself in the contemporary practice of the students of the internationally renowned Nanjing University Of The Arts. What I’ve seen of their work and facilities is outstanding! I have no doubt my hosts will be a great inspiration in creating a new multi-disciplinary collaborative artwork.”
