Chengdu is the capital of the Sichuan province, and according to Wikipedia, is “…one of the most important economic, transportation, and communication centers in Western China…It was recently named China’s 4th-most livable city by China Daily”. About the people of the city it is said that they “…having a laid-back attitude and [know] how to enjoy life.” Should make for a very enjoyable visit for Gareth.

Chengdu Associated Theatre of Performing Art is a cross-artform organisation under the supervision of Chengdu Cultural Bureau, consisting of Chengdu Dance Troupe, Chengdu Acrobatic Troupe, Chengdu Traditional Chinese Ensemble and Chengdu Drama Troupe. The visiting musician will be able to gain access to the best local music and Chinese traditional performing arts, as well as the rich local ethnic cultural/music traditions in Sichuan.
