Musician in Residence, Kings Cross
Dame Evelyn Glennie, world renowned Scottish virtuoso percussionist, was the first King’s Cross Musician in Residence.
Throughout 2017, Evelyn worked with the King’s Cross community to create new music that involves and resonates with those who live, work and play in King’s Cross. The residency culminated in a final performance of the work.

Evelyn Glennie is the first person in history to successfully create and sustain a full-time career as a solo percussionist. She performs worldwide with the greatest conductors, orchestras, and artists. Evelyn Glennie had the honour of a leading role in the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
King’s Cross partnered with the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music, PRS Foundation, to select a musician in residence for the King’s Cross neighbourhood. The programme runs for twelve months from January 2017.
Almost 100 music creators were whittled down to three finalists by a panel of expert judges. Evelyn was chosen by the residents, students and workers at King’s Cross N1C, via an online vote.
