ACOUTASTiC BOMBASTiC was born out of a dream that saw a small group of musicians playing and exploring in a vast room full of different musical instruments. Now a reality, the ensemble is founded on a number of long term musical friendships.
The ensemble first came together to perform Yarde’s Jerwood/Cheltenham International Jazz Festival commission ‘Random Wishes and Abstract Dreams’ in 2005. They have been dreaming and scheming of a way to get the project back together ever since. Now armed with a clutch of new material and an even larger lineup featuring some of the UK’s finest multi-instrumentalists and musical mavericks, the time has finally come…
ESKA, Marcina Arnold, Emma Smith, Ellen Blair, Seb Rochford Benet Mclean, Orphy Robinson, Shanti Jayasinha, Neil Charles, Julian Siegel, Harry Brown, Jason Yarde alongside some very special guest members have started on the journey of recording their debut album.
Within the ranks of the ensemble lurks a Saxophone Quartet, a String Ensemble and a small Choir, that can individually and collectively groove, float, swing and potentially travel the globe from one measure to the next.
“…no ordinary band and no ordinary leader…” Jazzwise
“AcouBomb was always intended to be a long term project given the opportunity so it’s fantastic to reignite it”
Jason Yarde and ACOUTASTiC BOMBASTiC are most grateful in receiving much needed financial support form the PRS for Music Foundation and space from LSO St Luke’s through LSO Soundhub and the Southbank Centre and greatly look forward to the possibilities afforded.
