AGAAMA: Power Up Music Creator

Birmingham born, London based Singer-Songwriter, Composer and Producer AGAAMA, blends electronic instrumentalism with haunting pop melodies, into their own brand of dark electronic alt-pop. The British-Jamaican Artist is cited as ‘One to Watch’ by The Guardian, The Observer and The Metro. Latest EP Wandering Worlds, released by State 51 The Conspiracy, won support from BBC Radio 6 Music’s Mary Anne Hobbs, Iggy Pop and BBC 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova. ‘Bjork-like beats with volcanic bubbling brass’ (Guardian) and ‘vocal harmonies flit between bold and rich and something more intangible and wispy’ (The Observer) feature in playlists curated by Clash, Dummy and Loud and Quiet.

AGAAMA has performed music from Wandering Worlds on national and international stages, including a televised performance with BBC Symphony Orchestra for Inside Classical (BBC Arts/BBC4), collaborating with Musical Director Jules Buckley and Conductor Dalia Stasevska. AGAAMA’s passion for live performance was nurtured through training at Betty Fox Stage School. As a teenager she fronted metal bands, moshed at gigs, went to bass music/dubstep nights and danced to hefty sound systems. This energy, present in Birmingham’s rave and metal scenes, plays a central role in the production and energy of her music. AGAAMA (Cassandra Gurling) has developed her career through support from PRS, Sound and Music, MOBO x Help Musicians, Drake Yolanda and The British Council/ AIM.

Cassandra, is also a music industry professional, managing recording projects for London Contemporary Orchestra. Credits include Tár, The Whale, Peaky Blinders, Stranger Things and Oscar winning, All Quiet on The Western Front.
