Musicians from the north of England’s jazz and folk scenes are joined by circus aerial performers from Dublin in this cross-disciplinary event, that employs each field in dissecting and presenting the personality at hand – the Blood Flower.
Using hand-gestures and fine-tuned creative reflexes seven performers will conspire to create a single personality. At their disposal are a handful of set-pieces, their own artistry, and the aggravation or tenderness of one-another’s input, in the moment. Having developed an improvisation-structure they will use it, live, to force out of each other a piece that is palatable, challenging, unique and sincere.
Accompanists and soloists alike, the performers will respond to and react against one-another, in divining the personality of the piece. Having developed a communication method in place of a prescriptive score, their focus will be on one-another, and the atmosphere of the situation.
Following the performance, the language and methods used will be made available to those in attendance who might want it.
The piece combines varied art-forms at the hands of practitioners proven in previous collaborations, around a solid and original idea.
