Aleighcia Scott: Women Make Music

Radio and tour promotion for debut album release

Aleighcia Scott’s voice has the soul of the finest Reggae singers combined with the power of a 50-strong Welsh choir and given that she grew up in Cardiff and yet with family roots from Trelawny, Jamaica this should come as no surprise. She is the epitome of the unique melting pot culture of modern Britain and is among an array of new powerful young women singers making their mark on the international Reggae scene.

The release of her debut EP on Peckings Records set in motion a blazing trail of events that established Aleighcia as one to watch. Tracks from the EP gained radio support from Rodigan & Seani B on 1Xtra, Tom Robinson on BBC Introducing, Lauren Laverne on BBC6 and culminated in a playlist on BBC Wales. Aleighcia was then enrolled on the BBC Wales Horizons artist development programme and performed at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Latitude for BBC Introducing and a live session in Jamaica for 1Xtra. She was also invited to speak about her dual heritage on BBC Sesh amassing 745K views to date.

Not a bad start then! Taking it step by progressive step Aleighcia has recorded her debut album with legendary Reggae producer Rory Stonelove, recent collaborator with Jay-Z & Beyonce. Recognising Aleighcia’s talent, Stonelove has spared no expense recording the album in recruiting Jamaica’s finest musicians, veteran horns players and adding strings to give UK Lovers Rock a Jamaican twist. ‘Women Make Music’ will enhance Aleighcia’s debut album release by supporting radio and tour promotion.
