Alfie McIntyre : Early Career Promoter Fund

About :

Alfie is the founder and managing director of Birmingham-based music events and media company “OurTurn”. After starting the company as part of his final major project for his “Music Industries” degree at Birmingham City University and putting on two live music nights during this time, Alfie is now dedicated on continuing to bring more live music nights to Birmingham post-graduation, showcasing the multitude of often overlooked talent this city has to offer with a bi-monthly live music night in Digbeth, the heart of Birmingham’s creative scene. “IAM BIRMINGHAM” is the new bi-monthly music event that will bring 4 artists and 2 DJs to the stage each night, dedicated on giving a platform to homegrown and upcoming Birmingham talents. The event will alternate from RnB to Hip-Hop each event, two genres that are under-represented within the events scene in Birmingham. This event aims to shine a light on the amazing artists that this city provides, often overlooked in favour of other big cities such as London and Manchester. Through a great deal of networking and development, Alfie has substantially grown the company during the first year of operation and has surrounded himself with a great network of artists and creatives dedicated to uplifting the music and creative scene in Birmingham. OurTurn’s whole ethos is based on the idea of creating a new perspective of Birmingham’s local music industry, highlighting the vast amount of talent that is hidden within the city and making others aware of how Birmingham can be the next big music city in the UK. It’s Our Turn, it’s Birmingham’s turn.

Project Description :
