Anna Hazarika : Early Career Promoter Fund
Asian Tones champions Asian heritage across the music industry, with a focus of spotlighting the vibrancy and diversity of sounds across the community as well as brining a creative cohesion between the different Asian regional backgrounds. Since it’s inception in March 2021, Asian Tones has featured over 200 artists. Over the last 3 years Asian Tones has run small live shows, with full diaspora line ups across London. Asian Tones has covered genres from pop to desi to punk and much in-between – with an aim breaking the preconceptions and updating the ideology around what British Asian sounds include. In London over 80 artists have been platformed, some artists given their first ever live opportunities to others their first opportunity to headline a show. Many of these artists have since gone on to gain live opportunities else where, be featured in prominent outlets such as BBC Introducing, Rolling Stones (etc) as well as sell out their independent headline shows.
The grant recieved from PRS Foundation’s Early Career Promoter Fund will be put towards 4 out of London shows, in Manchester, Reading, Birmingham and Brighton. This will allow Asian Tones to be able to support and celebrate the diaspora in these locations as well as increasing the platform’s reach beyond London. Asian Tones has a focus on embedding the diaspora into the wider day to day live music scene, with this support the platform hopes to continue pushing forward
