Anna Meredith: A Career Supported at Every Stage
Anna Meredith is a prime example of how PRS Foundation’s long-term commitment can nurture an artist’s career. As Anna herself highlights, she has received PRS Foundation support across many stages of her career, the support has been appropriate for the project and type of composer Meredith was at each stage. Early in her career, New Music 20×12 provided Anna a high-profile platform to showcase her talents on a national and international stage with a large-scale commissioning program for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. This was supplemented by New Music Biennial, which helped to promote Anna’s compositions to new audiences, to critical acclaim. Recognizing the significance of empowering female creators, Women Make Music supported Anna to collaborate with other female artists and push boundaries in her work. Both Resonate and The Composers Fund boosted Anna’s resources by providing financial backing in order to explore new commissions, projects and visual media.
