Apostolos Charisis is a Greek born composer who finds interest in acoustic and electro acoustic music. His music which is frequently linked with acoustic, improvisation and interactive music, is focused on notational and technical methods aiming to create distinct layers, or groups of materials that could be viewed both at a high resolution level, and from a macro structural perspective. He studied harmony and counterpoint in Greece and later composition in the UK. He has attended privet lessons with Brian Ferneyhough George Apergis, Claus Steffen Mahnkopf, among others.
The bursary is going to cover the cost of the recording session of my two piano pieces I am currently working on. The recording session will take place during April 2014 at the University of York. Both of the pieces are very prominent in my compositional research, and critical for its further development. The two piano pieces are going to be released on a CD along with other recent solo pieces.
