Aurora Orchestra 2015 Season
Since its launch in 2005, Aurora has established itself as one of the most creative voices in classical music. Living composers have been central to the orchestra’s musical output, and its tenth anniversary season features a rich variety of contemporary British music, much of it newly commissioned.
Highlights include the production of a new recording of music by Thomas Adès; the appointment of John Barber as Collaborating Composer-in-Residence; the performance of a new work by John Webb at the Royal Albert Hall alongside young people from Buckinghamshire Music Hub; the commissioning of a series of new chamber arrangements from Arranger-in-Residence Iain Farrington for Aurora’s Far, Far Away family concerts; performances of works by Julian Anderson, Harrison Birtwistle, and the world premiere of a new work by Judith Weir at Wigmore Hall; a new partnership with MishMash Productions involving a new commission from Paul Rissman for early years audiences; as well as a major new chamber orchestra commission to be announced later in 2015.
