Short Project Title: Release & Tour of Balladeste’s new album – Imprints

Project Description: This funding will support the release and tour of Balladeste’s exciting new album ‘ Imprints’ – bridging soundworlds from contemporary minimalism, Indian Classical and experimental improvisation, and reaching new audiences through a targeted release campaign and UK tour, including 2 showcase launch events (London and Hastings).

Bio: Balladeste is a collaboration between cellist Tara Franks and violinist Preetha Narayanan. Writing all new music collaboratively, this unique string duo interweave contemporary minimalism, Indian classical and folk to create all original compositions that are vibrant and experimental yet melodic and cinematic in quality, described as “very, very special….defies easy definition”- BBC Radio3 InTune. Having released 3 acclaimed albums to date, the duo have performed live and been interviewed on BBC Radio 3, Radio 4 Woman’s hour, Soho Radio & NTS, and performed at venues/festivals including; Barbican, Café Oto, Brighton Festival, Snape Maltings, Isole Che Parlano, El Chopo Mexico City.
