A special project commemorating the 30th anniversary of the festival, by commissioning the composer and guitarist Eduardo Niebla to write a new piece inspired by the region, involving the participants and premeriered at the festival by: Eduardo Niebla,Carl Herring, Roberto Ares, local musicians including a brass band, adult and children’s choir and  folk musicians.

The piece will be a celebration of the region, its people, culture and heritage and will bring many people from the town together in an inspirational, large-scale work. It will be a great experience for all those involved, giving local people and musicians an invaluable opportunity to work with a composer and guitarist of international standing, as well as giving Eduardo Niebla the opportunity to compose and perform his work at a major festival.

The mix of influences from the region’s folk, brass band and choral traditions, combined with Eduardo’s Spanish flamenco gypsy jazz roots, promises to be exciting and will add a new dimension to the festival. It will leave a legacy of new music for the region and beyond and will inspire those taking part, and audiences, to be involved in music creation and performance in the future.
