King’s Place: Beyond Borders

Kings Place, in collaboration with RCS, RWCMD, RNCM alongside additional presentation partners will present a multidisciplinary tour of Rakhi Singh & Vessel’s ‘Written in Fire’

Sebastian Gainsborough, best known by the recording alias Vessel, is a British composer and producer of experimental electronic music. He has been releasing music under the moniker for eight years, and received initial acclaim for the 2012 album Order of Noise, released on Tri-Angle Records . He released his sophomore album, Punish, Honey, to widespread critical praise in 2016. There followed a period of intense activity, including commissions from Paris fashion week and Immix Ensemble, collaborations with Moroccan Gnawa musicians, and worldwide touring with renowned visual artist Pedro Maia. His third album, to be released in autumn 2018, features a selection of outstanding British musicians, including Olivia Chaney, Rakhi Singh and Ashok Klouda. Rakhi Singh is Music director of Manchester Collective, co-Leader of Manchester Camerata and principal player in the London Contemporary Orchestra. From 2004-2011 she was leader of the Barbirolli quartet with which she toured Europe, Australia and New Zealand and recorded for Nimbus. She was awarded a prestigious Creative Wales Award 2014-15 which enabled her to take time out to focus on collaborations. This season she performs with pianist Katya Apekishiva and dancer Danielle de Vries, cellist Abel Selacoe, Oliver Coates, LCO and directs Manchester Camerata in Vivaldi’s FourSeasons.
