Blood Moon Project: Women Make Music

Blood Moon Project EP

Blood Moon Project is a new experimental trio between vocalist/producers Heloise Tunstall Behrens, Tanya Auclair, and Luisa Gerstein (Deep Throat Choir, Auclair, Landshapes). They come together to explore the voice, electronics and percussion, drawing on their shared fascinations with polyphonic singing traditions, Deep Listening practices and composing collaboratively. The trio make music like a game of consequences – where parameters are agreed for each of them to use their voice plus one instrument/sound, a guiding theme and a bpm – then the three simultaneously write and then pass on what they’ve made to the next person, who adds new layers of voice and instrumentation to the music, until they have all put something of themselves into each other’s work. It’s an approach they love and keep returning to, for the surprising outcomes and exciting combinations. They have recently collaborated with DBLG London on two videos: ‘Hidden’, an award-winning audio-visual triptych with fashion designer Vincent Lapp ‘Hidden’ and ‘The Real Thing’. Additionally, a forthcoming single, a collaboration with Fran Lobo and Laura Groves will be released on Amorphous Sounds. They are currently working on their debut EP with co-production by Sam Beste (The Vernon Spring, Floating Points, Kano, Kindness), which will be realised through funding from PRS Music Foundation.
