Beginning in 1989, Blow the Fuse has grown into one of London’s most successful independent jazz nights, known for its enthusiastic and supportive audiences.

Blow the Fuse present Tommorrow The Moon II – a second season of fresh, authentic music led by women. From September to November 2013, three double bills at the Vortex Jazz Club will feature some of the UK’s finest contemporary jazz musicians with support from a younger generation of rising stars.

Blow the Fuse have received funding via the PRSF Jazz Promoter Awards for the past three years, and each year we have been able to further develop our programme. We have been able continue to support women composers and also bring in a younger crowd to our gigs to be part of the existing jazz legacy of older women and enable our audience to hear more experimental music from younger composers.

The evenings have been exciting, challenging, absorbing, and never dull. The double bills have brought older and younger, established names and young musicians leaving college courses together.

Our first two seasons, 2012 and 2013 have included groups led by composers Laura Jurd, Yazz Ahmed, Deirdre Cartwright, Vicky Tilson, Alison Rayner, Laura Cole, Diane McLoughlin, Dee Byrne, Nora Bite, Lauren Kinsella, Roz Harding and Nikki Iles.

In 2014 we will be focusing focus on composers who, in keeping with their heritage, fuse jazz composition with musical influences from India, Greece, Turkey, Spain and Eastern Europe.
