Bluegirl: The Hitmaker Fund
Biog: Venturing into an artistically and conceptually driven musical landscape, East London artist, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist ‘Bluegirl’ fuses indie elements with honest yet nostalgic alt pop for an immersive new sound, influenced by the likes of The 1975, Lorde, MGMT, Slowdive, Jack Antonoff, Haim and Daughter. Phoebe (aka Bluegirl) pens the human experience with a touch of darkness over dreamy guitars and synths that feel like a tangible world. Since early 2024, Bluegirl has had a focus of writing and producing for other artists, being flexible genre wise and enjoying a spectrum of indie to pop. Recent and upcoming sessions include Daydreamers, Deyyess, Ross MacDonald (The 1975), Nxdia, Lucy Blue, total tommy, Jack Kane, Millie Turner, Bimini, Hannah Grae, Leona Rue and Lo Lauren. Déyyess’ single ‘Claire’ – co-written and produced by Bluegirl – has reached 1.2M+ streams, got played on Radio 1 and reached millions of viewers on TikTok since its August release. Déyyess’ debut EPs ‘Claire’ and ‘Claire (deluxe)’ was fully produced and co-written by Bluegirl, and surpasses now the 3M+ streams. ‘Bluegirl’s own artist project will be unveiled in 2025, fully written and produced by her.
Description of funded activity: Bluegirl will use the PRS Hitmaker Fund to upgrade her studio with pro-grade microphones, pre-amps, plugins and soundproofing. The award will also allow her to rent outside equipment and studios, which will elevate her production quality. Specialist courses will sharpen songwriting, multi-instrumental and advanced mixing skills ahead of a busy calendar of UK writing camps. Thanks to this grant, she’ll have the freedom to experiment, build fresh sonic palettes and collaborate with a growing roster, alongside new international partners. The Hitmaker Fund will empower her to craft an arresting, authentic catalogue that pushes creative boundaries and meets industry demand
