Briony Greenhill: Women Make Music

The Ocean is the debut studio album from singer and pianist Briony Greenhill. Each song arrived as an improvisation and has been developed through collaboration with outstanding musicians on either side of the Atlantic. Crossing The Ocean has been recorded in the UK and US the year Briony became a dual citizen, after a decade in California, absorbing approaches to improvisation developed in the Bobby McFerrin lineage.

Briony’s music is rooted in earthy guitar and piano arrangements, enriched by strings, horns, fabulous percussive grooves and joined by many voices. It creates rich sonic layers which reflect Briony’s British folk / pop / classical heritage, as well as the influence absorbed from her long term love for many African American artists. Briony has been called “Joni Mitchell meets Gil Scott-Heron with a British accent.” Her lyrics are intimate, political, soulful.

Crossing The Ocean is due to complete by mid October 2020 and will be released gradually in the first half of 2021. To receive updates, sign up for Briony’s mailing list at www.brionygreenhill.com.
