Bwncath: PPL Momentum Accelerator

We are Bwncath, a country folk band from North West Wales. Since releasing our first album back in 2017, the group has gone from strength to strength, performing to a wide variety of audiences all over Wales which has been essential for our artistic development, as well as ensuring growth in our popularity over recent years. Our second album, ‘Bwncath II’ was released just as the UK entered its first lockdown. To our delight, it was very well recieved by listeners, so much so that it reached the Official Folk Albums Chart Top 40 and remained there for a total of 11 months – the only fully Welsh language album to do so! This led to our music reaching audiences outside of Wales – something we would not have dreamt of prior to the pandemic! Since then, we’ve performed in front of thousand of people at big festivals and regularly sell out shows. More recently, we were awarded ‘Best Group’ as part of Wales Folk Awards 2023, and could not be more excited as to what lies ahead!

Bwncath’s 3rd album will be a fantastic opportunity for us to expand on our recent successes and broaden our horizons by reaching new audiences. This award will be invaluable to the development of our next album and we can’t wait to start recording new material. It will also be essential for marketing and promoting the Bwncath brand around Wales and beyond, with the intention of touring the album across the UK.
