Café Oto (TDN 2025)
Organisation Biog: Cafe OTO is the only dedicated space for experimental music in the UK. The programme is extremely ambitious with over 330 events a year split between the venue and the recently built Project Space. In addition to the live event programme at the venue, OTO Projects provides free rehearsal space to musicians, hosts talks and workshops about new music and collaborates with a number of external partners across the UK to produce offsite events. Collectively this work represents a rich and diverse range of activity aimed at building new audiences for some of the most exciting new music being made today. The programme is diverse, covering contemporary classical, free jazz, electronic music, sound art and free improvisation to name a few. Uniting all these strands is a focus on risk taking and experimentation.
Short Project Title: OTO Projects
Project Description: OTO Projects manages the live programme at Cafe OTO the only year round programme of experimental music seven nights a week in the UK. Our TDP programme sits within this wider live programme and enables us to provide greater, more in-depth support to emerging musicians creating new music that exists outside of the mainstream. This support takes the form of residencies, digital commissions, recording sessions and live streams.
