Calstock Arts is based at The Old Chapel in Calstock, SE Cornwall. The venue is a former Methodist chapel that has been beautifully converted into a performance space. One of its unique features is a large picture that spans the height of the building beyond the stage area, which overlooks the Tamar Valley and Calstock Viaduct.

In a very short time, Calstock Arts has built a reputation for fine jazz programming since it was established in 2010. It was behind the launch of the first Calstock Jazz and Blues Festival in 2012, the success of which led to a second festival in 2013. Their headline act this year is Jacqui Dankworth and her trio. Other highlights include young trumpeter Matthew Halsall, one of the rising stars of the UK jazz scene, as well as saxophonist Jean Toussaint, who appears with the late Abram Wilson’s young rhythm section. We are also providing workshops for all ages and levels of experience.

Calstock Arts has always endeavoured to support emerging artists, young performers and a diverse range of both mainstream and experimental jazz. We have continued with this tradition for our Spring 2014 season. Artists confirmed so far include legendary saxophonist Andy Sheppard and tabla player Kuljit Bhamra, the Modern Jazz Quartet featuring vibraphonist Jim Hart, saxophonist Gilad Atzmon and the Orient House Ensemble with their new project Metropolis, as well as young jazz guitarist Ant Law.
