Camberwell Fair: The Open Fund for Organisations

We are Camberwell Fair. We’ve been running a much-loved FREE event for the last 5 years on Camberwell Green, to bring the whole community together. We had 7500 people at our last event and 98% of people said they would definitely come again!

This Artists in Residence Programme will support the next generation of emerging artists. We’ll bring together music businesses, artist development charities, established artists and emerging artists to create original work for performance at Camberwell Fair 2021. The programme will have a particular focus on supporting BAME artists to develop their creativity in tandem with professional mentors.

Working with Music Industry partners Earth Agency (booking agency) and First Word (record label), we’ve appointed singer/songwriter Tawiah, vocalist Kweku Sackey (K.O.G), and guitarist Shirley Tetteh as Artists in Residence. They will receive professional mentorship training , then work collaboratively with 12 Emerging Artists to create new work for Camberwell Fair 2021.

South London music education charities School Ground Sounds and the Midi Music Company will nominate Emerging Artists for the programme, in particular graduates of their Grit School and CICAS programmes. We’ll also accept public submissions.

The 12 artists selected will work with our Artists in Residence in sessions over summer 2021 to create new work for the Fair in September 2021, where they will be seen by invited industry representatives as well as an enthusiastic public audience on a professional stage and soundsystem.
