Nigerian born Camilla George is a critically acclaimed London based saxophonist who has been dubbed “the golden girl of jazz” by the Evening Standard.

She has become a prominent figure on the UK and International Jazz scene. Her 2017 debut album, “Isang” was critically acclaimed and her most recent album, “The People Could Fly” gained extensive support from BBC 6 music, BBC 1Xtra, Jazz FM, and Worldwide FM as well as being heavily playlist with Camilla taking on cover duties for Tidal’s “British Jazz is Hot Hot Hot” playlist. Camilla has been nominated for Best Instrumentalist in the Jazz FM awards and has just reached the finals of the DC Jazz Prix International Competition!

Camilla has toured extensively in both the UK and Internationally and opened for Dee-Dee Bridgewater who exclaimed “the world is safe because of Camilla.” She has performed sell out shows at Blue note Beijing, and Porgy & Bess to name just a few!

PPL Momentum funding will allow her to record her third studio album, “Ibio-Ibio” which is a celebration of her tribe, the Ibibio people of South-Eastern Coastal Nigeria- their creation and their beliefs. This album marks a clear development musically and compositionally and will encompass the use of electronic sounds as well as a larger band.
