The Magic Gang: International Showcase Fund
For:
CMW Showcase Performance
The Magic Gang are four kids from Brighton who live in a house together like The Monkees. They also sound a bit like The Monkees, but maybe more like The Beach Boys if Michael Nesmith was in the band instead of Mike Love. They write the kind of songs you already know intuitively the first time you hear them. Their musical heroes are George Harrison, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley and Rivers Cuomo, all the greats. To date they’ve released one single and an EP. They recently went to record a couple of songs with Sly And Robbie at Tuff Gong in Jamaica.
They were lucky enough to get an invite to perform at Canadian Music Week and the PRS For Music Foundation and International Showcase Fund have been kind enough to give them a grant that allows them to make their first trip to North America. They’re excited to represent British music at such a prestigious international showcase.
