Chamber Music Scotland: Celebrating chamber music’s tradition and exploring its future.

Chamber Music Scotland will commission and tour new works by Ailie Robertson, Kim Moore and Sarah Hayes. The works will be performed by their New Chamber Music Ensemble with whom they are exploring what chamber music is now and it’s potential for the future. The ensemble consists of six exciting performer/composers from across classical, folk, improvisation, electronics, jazz and indie music:

Kim Moore http://www.kimikomoore.com/
Sarah Hayes http://www.sarahhayes.net/

During 2019 Chamber Music Scotland began a series of activities asking the question ‘what is chamber music?’ What does it mean to artists and audiences and how can we support and lead creatives to explore this question? Last summer CMS delivered two artist residencies, and this new ensemble has been an organic outcome grown from this. You can watch a short video from one of the residencies here: https://vimeo.com/355952785

The ensemble is made up of artists who adopt the performer/composer model, they are interested in how this can be an effective way of fulfilling a creative and sustainable career as a new chamber musician.

The new works, alongside the première of a work for the group by Siobhan Wilson, will be performed at Hospitalfield (http://hospitalfield.org.uk/) at part of a brand new one-day chamber music festival and then tour in Scotland.
