CIEL: Women Make Music

Recording body of work + release – CIEL

Indie-rock trio CIEL formed in Brighton, with members hailing from The Netherlands, Spain, and the UK. Drawing inspiration from the unique creative landscapes of their respective home countries, CIEL’s music possesses a fresh, dark, and hauntingly beautiful quality. Combining elements of fuzzy indie rock, goth, and shoegaze, the band’s broody and gritty sound is elevated by the soft, icy, but emotive melodies of singer Michelle Hindriks. 2022 was a great year for the band with single “Baby Don’t You Know” hitting A-list on BBC 6Music plus a UK debut tour in Autumn 2022, which sold out in all major cities.

With the help from the PRS Foundation Women Make Music Fund, CIEL will be recording eight new songs with producer Steven Ansell (Blood Red Shoes, The Xcerts, Arxx) in June/July 2023. These songs will be mastered by Katie Tavini (Arlo Parks, Nadine Shah). We’ll release four of these tracks as an EP in November 2023, with singles coming out in September and November. To ensure maximum exposure, we will work with a dedicated team for radio, PR, and distribution in the UK and Europe. This new EP will follow up our upcoming EP release in June (not part of this funding plan). The remaining four songs will be released as singles in early 2024, building anticipation for our debut album.
