Claudia Molitor is a composer whose work articulates a dynamic pluralism which draws upon the tradition of classical music but also extends across contemporary art practices, such as video art, installation art, sound art and visual art. In her practice, the score become a site of exploration in which the conventions of notation, the qualification of sonic phenomenon and the historical hierarchies of sound are interrogated.

Claudia’s work is regularly performed and broadcast throughout Europe and has been performed by Apartmenthouse at Wien Modern, the West Deutscher Rundfunk Cologne and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival; EXAUDI at Ecat, the VI Festival de Musica Contemporania de Girona and HCMF; Rolf Hind at The Printing House in Dublin and Camden’s Roundhouse; note inégales at the ICA; both Mary Dullea and ensemble Scratch the Surface throughout Ireland; the Fidelio Trio at Soundings in London and Vienna; Lux Ensemble at the ÖBV Grabenfest; both the Kürbis Ensemble and Christopher Redgate at the Cutting Edge Series; the London Sinfonietta at their 40th anniversary celebrations at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and during Sonic Explorations at King’s Place.

Other recent work includes a collaborative video installation with Brian McClave and Gavin Peacock, a remix for Mikhail Karikis’ Morphica Album and Alert, a dance and video collaboration with Richard Alston and Deborah May for the Hear Here! project.

Recordings have been released on the Jerwood Series and NMC Recordings, and she has recently been commissioned, amongst others, by the London Sinfonietta, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the BBC, Sound and Music and the Royal Philharmonic Society. Claudia is co-founder and festival director of Soundwaves Festival.
