Colourscape Music Festivals 2012 (presented by Eye Music Trust)
The Colourscape Music Festival is a unique event – the only contemporary music festival to take place actually inside a sculpture of pure colour.
The power of the concept is in attracting new audiences – young people and families- to hear new British music – often for the first time. Colourscape is the initial “bait” to draw in new audiences – a large labyrinth of coloured chambers with an intense experience of space and light. Once inside, the unusual nature of the space makes a welcoming environment for the appreciation of new music.
In 2012 we present three festivals supported by PRSF:
June 29 – July 1st we go to Ipswich and present new music with Sounds Positive Ensemble and composer Ansuman Biswas in our Colourscape structure in Christchurch Park.
August 18 to 27 we present a new Colourscape Festival in the grounds of Holburne Museum, Bath. A full nine days of contemporary British music on Gamelan, guitar, ethnic instruments, Consortium 5.
In September our flagship festival appears on Clapham Common for its 23rd year featuring an exclusively contemporary British music festival with Rhodri Davies, Alison Blunt, Horses Brawl and a new work (funded by our own Eye Music commission).
Other events around the UK in Rotherham, Bexley, Sevenoaks, Wakefield, Kingston.
