Colourscape is the most unusual music “venue” for the presentation of contemporary music. The largest Colourscape is nearly 100 chambers and covers an acre of Clapham Common for the 25th anniversary Colourscape Music Festival in September. For the 25th Birthday Eye Music Trust are presenting large-scale audio-visual works by Barry Guy and Nye Parry with video artists, musicians and dancers spread throughout this extraordinary labyrinth of colour and light. A 25th Birthday concert presents new works by 25 British composers played by Janes Minstrels and Alison Blunt ensembles and a final commissioned work by Stevie Wishart based on the story of Pied Piper with a children’s choir and the audience taking part.
As well as the flagship Colourscape festival on Clapham Common PRSF funding is also enabling Colourscape festivals to take place throughout the country. There will be a five-day festival in Sheffield where Colourscape will be installed in the grounds of Sheffield Cathedral in early July as part of the Yorkshire Tour de France festival. Music dance and workshops for Special Needs workshops involve local musicians and schools.
