Conchúr White: PPL Momentum Music Fund

‘Swirling Violets’ Touring and Visuals

The PPL Momentum fund will be incredibly valuable to the promotion of my debut album. It will allow me to rehearse and tour with a band while also affording me the opportunity to create visuals for the singles and DSP tracks from my album.

Allusive but intimate, surreal but accessible, White’s silky and singular songs approach their subjects sideways on: sometimes dreamy and theatrical, sometimes grounded and sumptuously melodic, his work beguiles by stealth and contains multitudes. A sense of freedom colours Conchúr’s music which is evident on his forthcoming debut album ‘Swirling Violets’. Freshly signed to Bella Union, the County Armagh voice is a special new talent. With praise from SPIN, The Line of Best Fit, Under the Radar, Steve Lamacq, Radio 6 and others under his belt, he has also notched up touring slots with Villagers, Billie Marten, Richard Hawley and John Grant, who complemented White’s work warmly. (“It felt genuine,” marvels White. “I mean, he didn’t need to say it…”) Meanwhile, a recent invitation to support the mighty John Cale in concert lead to more complements from Cale’s storied bandmembers.
