Cosha : Women Make Music
About :
Cosha, pronounced Cosh (like Gosh)-uh, is an Irish singer-songwriter and producer. Based in London, her storied career has seen a critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Mt. Pleasant’, the lending of her inimitable, zeitgeist-y songwriting skills to artists including Charli XCX, Shygirl and Erika De Casier to name a few, and a role as key collaborator to her friend Mura Masa on the breakthrough hits ‘What If I Go’ and ‘Blessing Me’. As well as her lauded and celebrated songwriting, Cosha has also provided soundtrack and score work for Irish fashion luminary Sinead O’Dwyer.
Cosha Album Two
Cosha will use her Women Make Music Grant to aid the creation of her second album. This project will pay homage to her Irish/ African American heritage and the exploration of the intersection between Irish Sean Nós music and African American Spirituals. Cosha recognises the importance that music held for both sides of her ancestry during times of oppression and with her vocal dexterity & lyrical prowess, she is in a unique position to respectfully channel this spirit with a modern twist. While musically & rhythmically it will draw inspiration from the past, lyrically it will speak on the hard times we face present day.
