Short Project Title: Cryptic’s 2026/27 Talent Development programme, supporting music creators through commissions, residencies, performances, tours and our festival, Sonica Glasgow.
Bio: Founded by Cathie Boyd, 2026 marks 32 years in delivering high quality engaging projects and in-depth career support and development for musicians. Cryptic is Scotland’s leading internationally renowned home of music and experimentation. Based in Glasgow with a global reach, Cryptic presents the most dynamic musicians of today and tomorrow exploring new dimensions in live electronic music performance, sound and digital arts, which has enabled the support of pioneering musicians to create high quality, memorable experiences for audiences.
Programme Description: Cryptic actively nurtures and promotes talent to develop the music sector in Scotland and beyond, providing transformational support to a range of musicians at different stages in their careers. These diverse talents and projects are united by three strands that are key to our mission: Cryptic Artists seeks out and nurtures new and pioneering talents; Cryptic Nights supports and mentors Scottish-based artists, helping them reach the next stage in their creative development; and, every two years, the Sonica Glasgow festival of audiovisual performance and sound art presents an 11-day programme of events featuring new and established artists from across the world. To date, Cryptic has programmed more than 2,200 artists, whose work has been seen by over 1.3 million people in 33 countries.
