Cryptic is an internationally-renowned producing art house, creating a lasting artistic legacy by presenting high-quality, innovative work.

Cryptic ‘ravishes the senses’ with performances that fuse music, sonic art and multi-media. Founded in Scotland by Cathie Boyd in 1994, Cryptic presents today’s most imaginative, international artists and nurtures the creative talent of tomorrow.

Cryptic’s pioneering work is at the cutting edge of developments in multi-media, exploring the potential of new technologies to enhance live performance and the company has a successful track record in developing software for music and theatre. With a global reputation and a commitment to internationalism, Cryptic has co-commissioned, produced and performed work with many diverse, award-winning artists and collaborated with various high-profile partners, bringing Scotland’s creative talent to over 18 countries world-wide.

Recognising the need for a supportive platform for emerging artists with fresh ideas, Cryptic established Cryptic Nights in 2009. This regular programme of events crosses creative boundaries with live music, visual and sonic art, film and new media and has presented over 114 artists to date.
