Culture Shift: The Open Fund for Organisations

Delta 7 is a band which was formed in 2014, as a result of a 10 week music course, facilitated by Culture Shift. The band members- Mikey, Harry, Lucy, Fraser, Elliot, David and Craig – all identify as being disabled, Autistic or Downs Syndrome and are based in Sussex. They compose and perform their original music together and released a new album in 2018; Summer Waves. Their music is difficult to define in terms of genre but is generally best described as post-punk pop. The band members are supported by 3 professional musicians: Tom Cook, Sam Baldwin and Darrell Barrett.

“Now that so many more people know about us and like our music, we need to record more of our new so they can hear them too. With COVID and everything, we can’t perform as much as we usually do but if we have a new album, people can listen to that everywhere!”

“We want people to hear what we can do. It’s really important. Not just for us but for other people like us”.

PRS Foundation support is enabling Delta 7 to build on the success they have worked so hard for, ensuring that COVID 19 does not diminish their ambition and the vision they have for their future as a band. We believe their music and their music-making ethos conveys a powerful and positive message not just to disabled people, for anyone who feels outside of the mainstream.
