Sadie Harrison: Open Fund for Music Creators

SADIE HARRISON has been working as a composer for over 30 years, particularly well known for the socio-political aspects of her music-making with works challenging stereotypes of marginalised peoples – refugees, Afghan women, the deaf, the homeless – celebrating their creativity and individuality with powerful expressions of musical solidarity. She has recently been Composer-in-Residence with Cuatro Puntos (USA) and Kunstler Bei Wu Sculpturepark (Germany), supported by ACE International Development Grants and has been the recipient of the PRSF Composer’s Fund and Women in Music Grants. A career highlight so far has been her work as Composer-in-Association with the Afghanistan National Institute of Music, her symphonic work Sapida-Dam-Nau premiered by their Women’s Orchestra at the Closing Concert of the 2017 World Economic Forum. Her music has featured in several international films (Australia, Kabul, USA) and been released to critical acclaim on Naxos, Prima Facie, NMC, Toccata Classics, Divine Art/Metier.

Pasture & Storm – a collaborative celebration of single-handed pianists!

PASTURE & STORM is a collaborative celebration of diversity through the composition, recording, publication, performance & promotion of new music for single-handed pianists. Composer Sadie Harrison will be working with the international trailblazer, left-hand pianist Nicholas McCarthy, a host of fantastic musicians including the Bristol Ensemble, and award-winning film-maker Jordi Robert to create an exciting Go-To repertoire for the future, actively promoting disability within contemporary artistic culture. As well as the 8 new pieces, the P&S Project will showcase the skills of its music makers with a CD & an art documentary designed for distribution to international disability film festivals.
