Danny West: POWER UP Industry Professional
Short Bio: Danny West is a music executive and creative leader who built his career in Leeds and recently relocated to London to take up a role as a Producer at Universal Production Music. Deeply rooted in the Northern music scene, Danny has spent the past five years shaping artist careers, driving publishing innovation, and expanding opportunities for underrepresented creatives. As Publishing Manager at Leeds-based Come Play With Me CIC, Danny was instrumental in launching a joint venture with Universal Music Publishing Group to support Northern artists. He has worked closely with breakthrough acts including Graft, Lois, and D5, while also brokering sync deals with major brands such as Amazon Prime, Sky Sports, and MTV.
Danny’s move to London marks the next chapter in his mission to dismantle systemic barriers for Black creatives in music publishing and sync. His current work focuses on bridging regional and industry divides and ensuring that voices from outside the capital are heard at the highest levels of the business. Through Power Up, Danny will gain mentorship from industry leaders, access essential resources and attend key sector events such as which will further empower him to build sustainable pathways for Black talent in music, particularly in sync and publishing sectors where representation is still lacking. Danny’s journey from Leeds to London is a testament to his vision: creating a more inclusive and accessible music industry that celebrates talent from every corner of the UK.
