Concise Description: An immersive showcase of LGBTQIA+ creativity, featuring DJ sets, live sets, visual installations, performance and more, providing a safer space for the community to connect.
Bio: Devon Armstrong is a promoter, DJ and the creative director of multidisciplinary event series, Collective Hysteria. She DJs as Jezebelle and has played throughout Europe as well as Brazil. Collective Hysteria originated in London, and aims to platform creativity from artists who identify as FLINTA* (female, lesbian, intersex, nonbinary, transgender or agender) from across artistic disciplines, with a focus on electronic music and club culture. With the support of PRS Foundation funding, Devon plans to curate and produce an immersive club event, featuring DJ sets, live electronic music, performances, visual installations and more, pushing the boundaries of club spaces, with community and solidarity as core values of the project. The long term goal for this project is to expand throughout the UK and beyond. With music programming focusing on experimental and psychedelic sounds within techno and trance, the proposed event will also include visual installations by FLINTA* and queer artists, alongside movement performances and the possibility of an interactive clothing market stocked with upcycled and designed pieces created by queer artists. The event is due to take place at a new grassroots venue in London with a state of the art sound system, and plans to create a space for free self expression and creativity in the queer community. By programming and supporting FLINTA* talent, Devon hopes to represent and inspire the next generation of FLINTA* creatives to pursue their goals.
