eejebee (EJB): POWER UP Music Creator
Concise Description of activity: eejebee (EJB) is a British-Jamaican, Florida-raised multidisciplinary artist, composer, vocalist, producer, and curator whose practice spans sound installation, film, performance, and community-led research. He has lived and worked across 10+ countries in recent years, developing immersive projects rooted in ecology, ancestry, migration, and collective listening. His work explores sound as a relational tool connecting land, memory, ritual, and cultural ecosystems. Recent projects include an archival audiovisual installation centred on Kumina, Jamaica’s oldest surviving spiritual tradition, developed with the Smithsonian and presented in Tokyo, alongside research-led multi-sensory work in Morocco exploring plant intelligence, ethnobotany, and sonic perception. eejebee’s practice has evolved through long-term engagement with communities across Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Malawi, Japan, Morocco, and London, including workshops and mentorship with refugee and under-resourced youth. His work prioritises care, sustained exchange, and non-extractive collaboration.
Alongside his solo practice, he has collaborated with artists including Steve McQueen, Little Simz, FKJ, SAULT, Cleo Sol, Lianne La Havas, Kunichi Nomura, and brands including Apple, Roland, Audio-Technica, AlphaTheta, Verdy, Pace and Nicholas Daley. His work spans spatial audio, fashion and film scoring, broadcast, and live performance, with appearances at Glastonbury, NPR Tiny Desk, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
