Eliza Oakes: Women Make Music

Weight Of The World’ EP by Eliza Oakes

PRS ‘Women Make Music’ fund will be supporting the recording and release campaign of Eliza Oakes’ second independently released project entitled ‘Weight of the World’, set to be released in 2023. This project will be written, arranged and co-produced by Eliza Oakes, and recorded with musicians who she collaborated with on her first EP ‘An Intuition’ (2021) alongside new collaborators and creators.

Eliza Oakes is a vocalist, writer and artist born and raised in South-East London. Combining a wide range of influences along with the eclectic sounds of the city she grew up in, she delivers her own sound with grit, soul and authenticity. Her vocal strength, versatility and range has been nurtured through singing in choirs from a young age, from church to performances in clubs and venues across the UK. This immersion within multiple harmonizing voices across different genres and ages, shaped her voice to be uniquely honest and powerful, leading her to years of working professionally as a musician and studying Jazz Vocal at Guildhall School of Music. With her first independently released project ‘An Intuition’ EP receiving wide media praise, from Clash Magazine’s ‘Track of the Day’ for her debut single ‘Let It Be Known’ as well as radio play from Worldwide FM, Soho Radio and an interview with Hoxton Radio, she has been regularly performing in sold out shows in venues across London. As she continues to vocally explore the ways to push genre-defying performances and art, truth and originality are taking front and centre.
