emaé: Women Make Music
emaé is a soulful singer-songwriter, based in London via Aberdeen, Zambia and Zimbabwe. With international appeal, music from her feel-good debut album Old Heart (2018) was featured on platforms such as BBC Introducing, BBC 6, MTV The Wrap Up and play-listed from Spotify Japan to Indonesia. An ambassador for the international female collective, Sounds Like Women (SLW), that uses music to empower women and girls, emaé recently completed a tour across Poland with SLW to raise awareness for the fight against domestic violence, racism and social injustice. emaé is also a pharmacist.
Highlighted as one to watch by the MOBO awards, emaé has developed under several music institutions like Brighter Sound, The h. Club London, Serious Live and Help Musicians and since releasing Old Heart, has spent time finding herself all over again, travelling the familiar road back to music that artists must take after pouring everything into their first body of work.
Having spent the last year writing and recording, emaé is back with new stories to tell. The Women Make Music award will flesh out and amplify her music in 2021 by providing funds for campaign visuals and strong marketing and promotion strategies for multiple releases. The award will empower emaé to share her new music to a significantly wider audience and share it exactly the way she has envisioned.
