Emmavie: Momentum

Emmavie is a triple threat singer/songwriter, producer and DJ from London whose music is an amalgamation of 90s R&B and her love for digital audio experimentation. Off the back of releasing her debut self-produced album ‘Honeymoon’ with boutique label, Fresh Selects, two collaborative EPs with all-female international collective, Her Songs, and a joint project with renowned jazz musician, composer and rapper, Alfa Mist, the last 12 months have seen Emmavie hit the ground running.

“What’s A Diamond To A Baby” is a self-produced EP that sees Emmavie making a shift in her signature sound, exploring the contemporary stylings of today’s future R&B and trap soul through the lens of her experimental approach to music. She uses this project to show off her developments as a sound designer, using specific production techniques and strong writing themes – writing and singing about topics in her life that aren’t regularly explored in these genres.

The PRS Foundation Momentum funding will finance the post-production of Emmavie’s third solo EP, a music video, vinyl and merchandise production and a prolonged PR and plugging campaign. A huge part of her artistry is translating her production and sound design into a vivid live performance. Due to Covid-19 venue restrictions, Emmavie plans to get creative with live-streamed performances – exploring set design and platforms that support online interaction from fans such as Twitch. The fund will also cover band rehearsal costs including travel, rehearsal studio hire and the session fees of musicians and a sound engineer.
