Errollyn Wallen: Women Make Music

This new work by Errollyn Wallen will be inspired by Peterborough: its people, stories and heritage. In addition to creating an important, celebratory piece of music which will be performed in the city for years to come, the processes of research, composition and performance will be used as a catalyst to draw together the diverse communities of Peterborough. The new commission will explore and celebrate the city’s communities, developing identity and shared heritage. It will explore how local culture has been impacted by new arrivals, from Peterborough’s re-designation in the 1960s as a New Town to the more recent economic migration from Eastern Europe.

Whilst inspired by and developed in Peterborough, the content of the new work will not be geographically specific. It will strive to express themes and issues of universal relevance.

The new commission will be performed by Peterborough Male Voice Choir, Peterborough Voices and Peterborough Choir with the Britten Sinfonia in the Spring of 2015.
