Azekel: International Showcase Fund (Eurosonic 2017)

Azekel made his mark in 2014 with the release of the track New Romance. The song was tweeted by Azekel’s childhood hero Prince through his @3rdeyegirl Twitter account during the autumn of 2014 , was hailed by BBC DJ Lauren Laverne as one of her tracks of the year and has been streamed over 2.5 Million times on Spotify.
Chronophobia, New Romance and Mad About The Boy were taken from Raw, Vol.1 released in July 2015. This body of work has been playlisted on BBC R1, BBC 1 Xtra, BBC 6 Music, Rinse FM and International plays from KCRW, Triple & Double J, NPR and College Radio in the U.S. The summer also saw Azekel perform live at Glastonbury festival for the BBC.
Early in 2016 Azekel revealed his collaboration with Massive Attack, co-writing and featuring on the title track of their EP Ritual Spirit. Azekel performed with the band during their tour of the UK and Europe and is participating in their summer shows having just played Hyde Park to over 40,000 people.
During the summer of 2016, Azekel dropped Linger which is the lead single from Raw, Vol. 2. Initial reception for the song has been strong with nearly 100k plays of the official video in one week and several key placements on Spotify’s major playlists.
Azekel has also teamed up with Converse through their Rubber Tracks initiative and recorded new material in Studio 2 at Abbey Road studios.
