FM is a monthly music industry social get together and blog.
So much business is now done by email and online, they wanted to do things on a more personal level. There are also a number of new businesses of 1 or 2 people setting up who enjoy the chance to meet other people from the industry.
They started in March 2007. There have been ad hoc satellite events in Brighton, Liverpool, New York, Latvia and Amsterdam. As of November 2011, there are over 1,100 people on the mailing list and generally the events attract between 40-70 people.
The grant from PRS for Music Foundation will estapblish FM Mentoring, a new scheme where 20 individuals within the industry will be paired up with 20 established members of the music industry for 12 months.
