Frances M Lynch, Cheryl Frances-Hoad: Open Fund for Music Creators
During the Covid19 Lockdown, Frances M Lynch and Cheryl Frances-Hoad will continue creating music for electric voice theatre’s Minerva Scientifica projects championing the work of women composers and scientists.
In May, Lynch will work remotely with evt’s singers, setting words of a C19th hymnodist and mixing voices, bat echolocation, moth and aeroplane sounds for Brixworth Online Music Festival, Northamptonshire.
July 25th Centenary of Rosalind Franklin celebrated through online music, art and conversation, with music reflecting her revolutionary X-ray photograph of the DNA double helix and pioneering research from coal to the structure of viruses.
Throughout the summer you can find fascinating stories of STEAMM Women (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths & Medicine) linked to Essex 2020; a Virtual Choir, workshops, and amazing music challenging out-dated stereotype of ‘Essex Girls’. Composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad will premiere her first electronic work at Civic Theatre Chelmsford on September 20th.
Lynch has written for choirs, music-theatre, exhibitions, plays, instrumental ensembles, including music for The Great Tapestry of Scotland; commission for Barefoot Opera. Minerva Scientifica commissions include “Scottish Superwomen of Science” (supported by PRSF) 5 star reviews Edinburgh Fringe 2017; “Minerva Mathematica” BBC Radio 3, June 2018; first orchestral work “Dark Matters” performed by Kirkcaldy Orchestral Society and BBC singer Margaret Cameron, Feb 2019.
