Frontiers is a contemporary music series hosted by Birmingham Conservatoire, designed to bring the most dynamic new music from the UK and abroad to the West Midlands. A wide and diverse programme of events take place from November to June consisting of cutting-edge contemporary classical/experimental/genre-breaking acoustic and electro-acoustic music.
Frontiers’ objectives are to bring outstanding composers and performers to the region; to develop a wider audience for contemporary music; to give exposure to emerging performing and compositional talent (inc. non-mainstream); to commission new work; to facilitate workshops between local communities and featured artists.
Highlights from the current seventh series of Frontiers include residencies by Decibel, Rolf Hind, Garth Knox, The Schubert Ensemble, Orkest de Ereprijs, Heiner Goebbels, Ensemble Klang and two Nights of the Unexpected. The award from the PRS Foundation will help us to present our most ambitious series to date.
