Generator: Talent Development Partner 2023

Tipping Point

Founded in 1991, Generator, have developed and supported countless artists, creatives, techies and businesses. Firmly establishing a reputation as the North East’s leading creative talent development agency with a legacy that spans three decades. Based in central Newcastle, we operate a number of artist development programmes and events, connecting, developing and retaining talent in the region.

We’ve unearthed and showcased some of the region’s leading music artists for over a decade through our festivals and live showcases dedicated to emerging North East talent, artists who have benefited from Generator’s support include Sam Fender, Du Blonde, Nadine Shah, Eliza and the Bear, Lanterns On The Lake, The Pale White and many more.

Our vision is to create a sustainable music industry in the North East that ensures access without barriers, and this is at the heart of all that we do. Creating opportunities for those underrepresented in the music industry is a priority in our work, as is reflected in our Keychange pledge. Recently, that has lead us to collaborate with our Manchester partner Brighter Sound on a week-long residency led by I. JORDAN, providing a dedicated space for Trans and Non-Binary artists. We are dedicated to building a sustainable infrastructure in the North East music industry that provides viable careers outside of London, whether that’s through our touring initiative spearheaded by our patron Tom Robinson NExSW, or our newly established Music Industry Advisory Group, bringing industry leaders to the region to provide essential mentorship and advocacy.
