Gwyneth Bradbury : Early Career Promoter Fund

About :

Gwyneth is a dedicated promoter and event organiser with over six years of experience in the music and events industry who focusses on bringing Latin American music and dance to Oxford and its surroundings. She has been instrumental in fostering a vibrant local scene that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

Starting at an independent bar, Gwyneth built a diverse lineup of live music, entertainment, and drag acts, helping the venue recover post-COVID. She has since broadened her impact, collaborating with various establishments and artists to promote Latin American culture.

Highlights of Gwyneth’s work include her collaborations with OCM to bring Eliane Correa to Oxford, supported by the local act Ran Kan Kan and, more recently, Tristan Butler’s Timba Britanica who performed in Oxford with Cuban legend Mayito Rivera. Additionally, she co-organised two editions of La Rumba festival, a celebration of Latin music and dance. This festival has not only showcased local talent but also introduced higher-profile acts that inspire and elevate the local scene. As a salsa instructor and DJ, Gwyneth also runs a popular weekly salsa night as well as the annual Oxford Salsa Ball, which features live bands, top DJs and instructors, and emphasises inclusion and diversity.

Gwyneth’s vision is to bridge the gap between the dance community and its roots in live music, nurturing a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage behind the music and a stronger connection to the music and rhythms.

OUTLINE:
La Rumba (3) will take place in May 2025. In the lead-up to the festival, Gwyneth will facilitate music, percussion and dance workshops designed to enhance audience engagement by offering cultural context and helping attendees connect more strongly to the music its performers. The festival will bring music and dance together with open-level workshops and new and exciting acts, both local and regional.
